HS1 Sponsor a Charity Trek of the Himalayas

For a member of the HS1 team, an exciting challenge awaits. HS1's Megan Cooke is set to tackle a trek across the Himalayas to raise awareness and funds for Railway Children. Organised and ran by Expedition Wise, and setting off on 3rd November, the 5 day circular trek sponsored by HS1 will begin and end in Dharamsala, a city in India's Himachal Pradesh state. The first four days of Megan's trek is mostly an ascent where the highest point is a little over 3000 metres, the final day involves a descent back into Dharamsala.

Megan was the first team member to have joined the company through the Graduate Scheme in 2017, and now she holds a permanent position as HS1's Retail Property Manager.

"This is not the type of thing I have ever thought I would ever do but when the opportunity was offered to everyone at HS1 I thought it was a great chance to challenge myself and see a new and beautiful part of the world. I was very lucky that my name was drawn from the ballot and am grateful for the opportunity to represent HS1 on the trek."

- Megan Cooke, HS1 Retail Property Manager

Railway Children do fantastic work around India, East Africa and the UK to help provide shelter and opportunity to children affected by poverty, abuse, violence and neglect. After the trek the Expedition Team will visit a Railway Children Project in Delhi that helps support children with nowhere else to go, Megan feels the visit "will really put into perspective the importance of supporting charities like the Railway Children" and help motivate her to keep on going when the trekking challenge gets tough.
