Women Inspiring Rail: HS1 CEO, Dyan Crowther's Q&A with Global Railway Review

Our Chief Executive, Dyan Crowther, shares her experiences of running the UK’s only high-speed railway, in Global Railway Review's ‘Women Inspiring Rail.’

Discussing her illustrious career in the rail industry, Dyan references her biggest achievements so far, highlights why delivering for passengers should be at the forefront of everything we do and offers her thoughts on how the sector can continue to diversify its workforce. Dyan acknowledges that the sector still has a long way to go, but there are already some fantastic apprenticeship schemes available, as well as guidance and advice for those looking for a career in the rail industry.

Dyan began her career in 1986 as an Operations graduate trainee. She has previously held positions at Network Rail and Govia Thameslink Railway. In 2002, Dyan was the first ever female Managing Director for Arriva Trains Northern. She is now the CEO of HS1 Ltd and most proud of the socio-economic benefits the high-speed line has brought to the regions it serves.
